Never mind. [He pulls his sweater a little closer around himself - it's not as cold as it was at Alkali Lake, but still colder than he likes - and starts to walk away. A few steps from the bench, he turns his head back around:]

There's food at these houses, right?

[She nods, then pauses.]

... Do you even know how to cook? [It's a legit question in Asgard OK.]

[That's not a yes, but not a no, either. He made himself plenty of meals over a broken old camping stove with no fuel. They just weren't exactly culinary masterpieces.]

[After a moment's thought, he turns and starts walking back toward her. He can't help but act like this is a really big effort on his part, accepting her offer of kindness - mostly because he doesn't know how else to react, not being all that used to them.]

Where do you live, anyway? It sounds like you're not in Baldr, and the house is in the opposite direction anyway.

[Once he's close enough she's shoving one bag of groceries into his hands. Then she's turning and heading for home.]
