ASGARD GENESIS - TEST DRIVE #1

Anyone can post to the test drive meme, including duplicates! Please put your character name and canon in the title of your comment.
All threads are considered open to everyone! Tag around and make some friends (or enemies)!
If you decide to apply to the game, you can use your TDM threads for your app samples! You only need to provide seven comments if you use TDM samples.
You can't be "late" to a TDM! This will be considered open until the next one goes live next month.
You can make up your own scenario, interact with one of the locations in the game, use the welcome process of your character selecting a god house, or use our optional prompt below!
You do not need to pick a god house to play on the TDM! You can have your character still in the process of discussing/deciding/despairing instead.
If you are accepted to the game, you can keep TDM threads as game canon as long as you fudge some of the details depending on your original thread. If you aren't sure exactly how to do this, you can always ask a mod.

❧ optional scenario.
As you enter Asgard proper, many of the natives have gathered into curious crowds to greet these mysterious children of the World Tree. Some of them carry baskets of flowers and nervously offer one to any Wanderers that come near. They are vibrant and colorful, picked from the wilds surrounding Asgard, and they might have an odd effect on your character if they sniff the flowers directly.

Purple flowers will make your character very giggly and easily amused by everything they see and hear.
Orange flowers will make your character feel very warm all over, like the sun is beating down on them directly.
Blue flowers will make your character somewhat short and impatient with anything that seems like even a minor inconvenience to them.

Effects of the flowers can wear off anywhere between a few minutes to an hour. And for those new to Asgard, this scenario aligns with some of the general curses we might have in the game!

[Crowds were also definitely not Terezi's thing. She wasn't comfortable around mobs, not given that mobs could turn one way or another if things went sideways. So she didn't really enjoy hanging around large groups of people. This was made doubly so given that she had managed to put a blindfold on and find a walking stick to act as a cane. It hampered dealing with the crowds but she felt a lot more comfortable without that bright bright sun in her eyes, or relying on sight that had never done her any real good anyway.

So, she was looking for an excuse to be away from the crowds. Catching a girl's kind of high pitched voice nearby where she was leaning against a wall, however, she canted her head in the direction of Clementine. Gray skin and pointed ears framed the red blindfold while she grinned a shark-like grin.]

Haven't seen this Alvin. [Get it? She's blindfolded. hadn't seen him. Hilarious.] You asked the people back where we showed up? Bet they know who showed up, if anyone does.

And if they don't? Well, color me not surprised. They don't seem to have a clue how to handle us being here.

Haven't....seriously?

[Like she has time for jokes. As if that sits well with her when she is worrying about this kid. About AJ, her little goofball. While she knows he can more or less take care of himself, given all she had taught him, that doesn't mean she likes the idea of AJ alone, without her.]

He's just a kid. If AJ is here somewhere, I have to find him. So far nobody I've asked seem to have seen him though.

[Terezi isn't wrong though, about this being somewhat chaotic. She's not sure if there is some kind of list or something as people show up.]

[Who didn't have time for jokes? Oh right, Terezi hadn't had time for them only moments before she'd come here in the first place. Well, whatever. When had she not been a little hypocritical? She leaned on her cane and kept her head cocked while she listened to the girl.]

They seem only a little incompetent and nobody's fighting. If he's here, he is probably safe for the moment. Probably. What's your friend smell like?

[... Well, it wasn't like she was looking for him literally.]

[AJ does tend to lash out though. Biting people. Hopefully he hadn't shot anyone? Clementine hasn't heard any gunshots at least. So far. He was probably scared about the crowds the same as she was.]

Probably safe isn't good enough. But...smell? Er, I guess like gunpowder and dog? From the bullets and Rosie at least. Probably dirt since we're always due for a bath or shower.

[Nope, no gunshots as far as she knew, but who could be entirely certain? It was a big enough town after all. She grunted and one of her eyebrows raised.]

Barkbeast and riflekind? If he wears lots of green I know exactly what that would smell like. [Nothing good in her experience, but hey. He couldn't be as crazy as Jade had gotten could he?] I can keep my nose open for that kind of smell. But I definitely haven't smelled any barkbeasts since I got here.

Barkbeast....? I guess that's one name for a dog, sure. But...thanks. If you can help me maybe find him. Preferably before he might lash out and hurt someone and start something.

[Because, yeah. She imagines AJ is probably scared, worried, if he was around here somewhere. She sees no reason to assume he wouldn't also be, given they had been together just before.]

[She was used to humans being weirded out by what trolls called things. Terezi found it a little amusing, really. But no need to press on that.]

Your friend, he is the violent sort? Well, if he shows up I think we will know it soon enough. If we're lucky, we can find him first.

If he is scared enough, sometimes. He doesn't like it when people sneak up on him, come up from behind. But also just...crowds in general are usually not good. Because that usually means walkers since there aren't many people left that haven't been bitten.

[Walkers being basically her name for the zombies back home. Not that Terezi might be aware of that of course. But she does hope they find AJ if he is here, quick.]

[Most of what was said was lost, in part because she was legitimately confused by one word that Clementine had used. An eyebrow climbed pretty high and she turned more fully towards the human in fairly obvious stupefaction. That expressive face didn't hold much back.]

Walker? What does biting have to do with walking, and why would your friend be afraid of walking? They an anti-healthy living sort?

No, a walker. They're....they bite and then that's when you die and become one of them. Well....we end up like them when we die anyway, but. The bite kills us and makes it happen faster.

[So. Decidedly more than AJ being anti-healthy living. To say the least. It is kind of almost bizarre to imagine that anyone wouldn't know, given Clementine has been dealing with the walkers almost half her life by this point.]

[Dead. Walking around. Biting people. Those people die. Start walking around. Biting people. There was a look of unpleasant nerves on her features as memories of Kanaya flashed through her head, along with zombie horror flicks. Ugh. That was seriously.]

Ok, so new rule. Nobody kill this girl, got it! Nobody does it or I fuck them up!

[She was being a little loud about that, honestly.]

Jeebus. They have rainbow drinkers where you come from?

We're all infected, back home. So....yeah, probably a good idea that I try stay alive here.

[To avoid spreading the outbreak further, to a whole new world.]

Ain't that a shitshole? Sucks to be you on that one. Yeah, we definitely don't want you taking a dirt nap right about now. Nobody needs someone's body getting up for a snack.

[She was still smiling, oddly enough, though it was a bit more of a wry grin, muted compared to before.]

You know, blood drinkers. Oh right, you're human aren't you? I think you humans call them vampires?

Bloo -- I guess it's more. Zombies? Whatever you call them, than vampires. But yeah. Dead coming back and all.

[That much was accurate enough at least. Clementine isn't sure, but if there's been no outbreak here from the looks of things, she doesn't want to cause one herself. Even if she is infected, she's still human otherwise.]

Ah, hehehe, yeah. The brainless types, just wandering around and hungry. Mow 'em down with a chainsaw or something? Know the sort.

[Mental note. Clementine was officially on the "Absolutely do not cull" list. Just in case. She was already filing that way in the mental filing cabinet of 'decisions with really dumb, bad consequences.' She grunted and nodded.]

Well, there's nothing like there here, but who am I to say. We've only been here, what, an hour? Not even a decent wi-fi. So, what do I call you, zombie girl?

A chainsaw would be way too bulky and loud. Even shooting them, we only do if we have to. I prefer to get close and take care of them quietly.

[Without attracting attention, without getting more of them coming to the noise and commotion. Clementine has years of experience in fighting, in defending herself and dealing with walkers and survivors at this point. Almost half her life.]

Wi-fi? I haven't even thought of that in years....but, right. Sorry, I'm Clementine.

[Introductions were. Usually a lot more tense. At least back home. So she might be slightly awkward and out of practice, as she offers a hand to shake.]

Hehe, but as long as you can keep swinging, you can just saw 'em all in half right? It's effective definitely. But hey you choose your weapon.

[The offered hand kind of got missed, because you know. Blindfold. She wasn't the whole 'blind monk' sort who could somehow always know where everyone was or see by mystic echolocation. Well, not anymore anyway, not since she actually got back her sight... which made the blindfold a little silly. Still, at least she could do the introduction part.]

Terezi. No wi-fi? Damn, how would you even deal without having that for communicating? It'd be crude as hell.

Effective and loud. It'd definitely draw the other walkers over to you if you used one of those. And be heavy and bulky in comparison to other options.

[A chainsaw would probably still be unwieldy even for her. Even now, Clementine is more likely to try use the environment around her to her advantage, to make up for her size and all, out of habit in compensating for it.]

Terezi then. But yeah. I never had a cellphone or anything myself anyway.

[She had been only eight when it had all started, after all.]

We just arrange ahead of time where and when to meet.

[She didn't press the matter of chainsaws. That was Kanaya's weapon of choice anyway. Let her def... oh right, eh. Well. Not worth worrying about anyway.]

Damn, that sounds like it'd get real annoying real fast.

Well, I guess we'll find out. They don't have one here either. What're we supposed to use? Post-it notes?

I'm used to it. I guess notes could work. Notes and letters, that is what people used to do. Before phones and all, I mean. I'm not sure yet what might be available here exactly, but. I'm sure we'd be able to figure something.

[Something, even if just notes. If not something more sophisticated depending on what is available and what they could use here instead, or what they could create, what supplies were here.]

I'll need to find my chalk. So primitive, but it can really get your point across if you do it right.

[Total sidewalk chalk artist here... only problem being that she wasn't any good at it. Crude didn't even begin to describe her trollish scrawlings and scribblings.]

This place is so back to basics.

Your chalk? I remember using some.

[It had been fun. Drawing on the footpaths and all. And it did tend to show up quite nicely against the ground. She's not sure if chalk as they might think of it with all the colours might be available here. She certainly doesn't have any on her at the moment, at least.]

I guess I'm used to the basics now. It seems fine to me.

[That and she could smell what she wrote. Even better by her standards. Either way, she was definitely going to be looking for it soon enough, or the nearest equivalent.]

I'll cope. I can work with crude stuff. It's not like I'm some misanthropic ass who never left his cocoon and computer banks. [Pfft, Sollux isn't here to hear that burn.] Wonder if any of the others ended up here.
