ASGARD GENESIS - TEST DRIVE #1

Anyone can post to the test drive meme, including duplicates! Please put your character name and canon in the title of your comment.
All threads are considered open to everyone! Tag around and make some friends (or enemies)!
If you decide to apply to the game, you can use your TDM threads for your app samples! You only need to provide seven comments if you use TDM samples.
You can't be "late" to a TDM! This will be considered open until the next one goes live next month.
You can make up your own scenario, interact with one of the locations in the game, use the welcome process of your character selecting a god house, or use our optional prompt below!
You do not need to pick a god house to play on the TDM! You can have your character still in the process of discussing/deciding/despairing instead.
If you are accepted to the game, you can keep TDM threads as game canon as long as you fudge some of the details depending on your original thread. If you aren't sure exactly how to do this, you can always ask a mod.

As you enter Asgard proper, many of the natives have gathered into curious crowds to greet these mysterious children of the World Tree. Some of them carry baskets of flowers and nervously offer one to any Wanderers that come near. They are vibrant and colorful, picked from the wilds surrounding Asgard, and they might have an odd effect on your character if they sniff the flowers directly.

Purple flowers will make your character very giggly and easily amused by everything they see and hear.
Orange flowers will make your character feel very warm all over, like the sun is beating down on them directly.
Blue flowers will make your character somewhat short and impatient with anything that seems like even a minor inconvenience to them.

Effects of the flowers can wear off anywhere between a few minutes to an hour. And for those new to Asgard, this scenario aligns with some of the general curses we might have in the game!

To screw with someone? Ah, like a prank. I haven't done anything like that in years....

[It's bittersweet almost. Seeming like another lifetime when she remembers the time she for example, put bugs at Duck's pillow. That was so long ago. Before everything changed with her finding out what happened to her parents. Before Lee had.....had been bitten and all.]

Oh. Almost sounds a little like Kenny.

[Though he had been loud more in terms of swearing in his frustration at their situation than anything else. Still.]

Oh man, you're missing out. Pranking and trolling people is one of those things to get you through a really boring day. We're going to have to remedy this.

[Great News, Clementine! This idiot is here for all your trolling and pranking needs!

Also... that was pretty much Karkat. Swearing at everyone for being idiots, including himself.]

Oh? You've got one too? They're kind of fun, when you gag em.

I'm probably really rusty. And er...well, no, I've never gagged him. Kenny's a friend. He's just really vocal? And swears a lot.

[Sure, let's just go with that. That seems to about sum it up. Though it is brief, Clementine can't help her expression falling a little at remembering Kenny. All they had been through, her thinking he had died, finding him again and all, only to end up apart and losing him again in the end anyway.]

Pffft. What's a little gagging between friends? Sometimes Karkat just needs to shut up for his own good and he won't listen to reason. Maybe your friend's not quite as bad.

[Karkat was always shouting. It would be hard to be as bad as him. But, at the same time, there was a bit of a distant look behind that blindfold. She wasn't exactly sad Karkat was dead. They all were. This is what happened to doomed timelines. She'd sent John back to fix all that, but it wouldn't help them. Still, she didn't like thinking of him that way.]

Eh... enough about that. Something else. Don't need to spend our day gabbing about loud-mouth chums, do we?

I mean, sure Kenny could go off sometimes, and he swore a lot, but.

[That never meant they had wanted to gag him for it. And probably, she should keep remembering to use past descriptions. For most of her friends and companions by now. She tries. It is just using them reminds her she has lost them which tends to just be more upsetting.]

Probably more productive to talk about this place?

[She shrugged. See, the issue was that trolls had weird ideas about what was a fun way to play. Shutting the shouting asshole up by gagging them until they calmed down qualified as fun for her, and arguably... well, no. Karkat never enjoyed it at all, but he certainly put up with it.

He was also always louder when he got loose.] He sounds like a good person to have around, as long as you have earplugs for those moments yep.

[She grinned away. Her tone said that was a compliment in an odd sort of way.]

So, what do you think of this whole weird-ass city anyway? You buy any of the hoofbeast crap they're selling?

Earplugs. That loud, huh? But...yeah. There were reasons Kenny was pretty good most of the time. I miss him. But ah, this place is certainly different to home.

[What with there being such crowds, no walkers, for a start. The most reassuring thing so far as much as she has gathered from her arrival.]

I'm not sure quite what to make of it yet. My priority is finding AJ or at least a way to get back to him and the others, for now.

Hah... hehe, yeah. He's definitely that bad. Probably still that bad. [Even dead.] It's a whole lot more peaceful and lowbrow than I'm used to around here. Not in any hurry to go anywhere, though if I could drag a couple asshats out of a dream bubble that'd be great for me.

[That Terezi was dead? That they had died back home? That or something had happened back home. She's not sure how to interpret that exactly.]

I don't mean what? [She barked a laugh and looked up.] I ticked off my matesprite and there's no home to go back to? Life's crappier where I came from than here? Come on, don't leave me hanging here. I gotta hear what your first guess was!

That your home sucks? Or, I don't know. That you had died back home or something.

[Hey. Walkers come back from the dead. How is she sure that isn't possible here too? For all Clementine knows, it might be.]

[She shrugged and reached up to her blindfold, lifting it over one of her eyes. Milky white, no irises, no pupils, nothing. Back down it went.]

Well, I'm definitely dead, but I know all kinds of people who are dead. Nah, home doesn't suck, but some yokel was in the process of making it not exist. The fireworks as reality went kaput were pretty good though.

[She was ... really at peace with this.]

Make your home not exist? Destroying it? I'd say that definitely counts as to not having somewhere to go back to. I probably wouldn't really care about getting back so long as I knew AJ and my friends were okay, were here with me.

[She just wants to be sure that AJ will be alright. That Violet and Louis and the rest were okay. If they were here with her, away from the walkers and all, she would see no reason to go back to that otherwise.]

We were a doomed timeline. That's just what happens. Don't worry too much about it. But you guessed it. nowhere to go, so why not hang out in this rotten place, right? [She shrugged again.]

If the others show up, bonus, but we'd made peace I think.

A doomed timeline? But I guess. Without walkers, this place is already ahead in me wanting to stay. If I can find AJ at least, if I could find or bring the others here.

[Made peace? Like Terezi had gotten into fights with their friends before and had set things right with them back home before ending up here?]

Yep, doomed as they come. Trust me, if you're not playing the game you don't wanna know. It's way too complicated and a whole lotta dumb.

[A general consensus shared by everyone in her timeline, she was pretty certain. As for made peace? Yes, that, and also made peace with the fact that they were about to cease to exist and that the 'fixed timeline' had a better shot than them. But, it was a distinction she wasn't making just yet.]

See, that's the spirit. If you're stuck here, maybe your friends can be too, and you can have yourself a corpse party. Only tell me who they are, 'cause no kill order on them too. Definitely.

I...am pretty sure I'm not playing? But maybe. The one I'm most worried about finding is AJ. The others...well, there's a few. Louis, Violet, Tenn, James, Mitch, Willy, Ruby, Omar and Aasim, were the ones we met at the school and all.

[The ones she had been with more recently at least. In comparison to Javi and the others. So she figures to ask about them first. Even if she isn't sure if any of them are around too.]

You're not. Hah, trust me. We'd all know if we were there.

Ah, so AJ's ... [No, those were pretty much human names. "AJ's your moirail" probably didn't apply, did it?] So, basically they're the one you're supposed to protect first, right?

He is. The others are all older than him, even Tenn. That's why AJ is the one I'm most worried about right now.

[That and AJ's potential terrified lashing out in this kind of situation. Clementine would rather nobody gets hurt, assuming AJ is around here somewhere and she just hasn't found him yet.]

[She nodded in understanding. There was always the urge to try and screw with someone more, but this felt like the sort of moirail-ish moment you didn't fuck with. Besides, she didn't want this guy dying and going all "night of the living dead trolls" on their asses.]

Not going to be too much use identifying, but I'll help out how I can. You asked the head honchos here yet? They're not the brightest, if you ask me, but I would think they'd know who showed up.

That is assuming one of them saw him. Or they have a list or something, I don't know. But I have to try.

[Because so far there wasn't any luck with wandering around like this. Clementine can't help but to worry, to want to confirm if he is here or not.]

Well, you wouldn't be doing your thing if you weren't trying and I've got nothing else to do, so I'd say we have a pretty good combo going right there.

[Terezi wasn't entirely sure if it was better to hope this kid wasn't here or that he was. Time shenanigans weren't necessarily obvious just yet, so the idea of getting stuck and not taking care of someone in danger... that would irritate anyone, she imagined. That she was past the point of caring about everyone back home was more her thing.]

I'm glad for the help. Even if we don't find him, if he isn't here.

[That Terezi had tried looking, that showed they cared. That they worried for AJ even if they hadn't met him themselves. That meant a lot. Of course, perhaps it isn't surprising that others might want to help look for a missing kid, especially at AJ's age, but she isn't always used to people helping and meaning it. Without some kind of ulterior motive, if they did help at all, given the situation back home and all.]

[It could be risky to assume Terezi was always this helpful, but still. She didn't see any reason not to help, and it wasn't the sort of thing she usually would tease about. And, honestly? Health hazards...]

It'll tell us for sure. Should probably get you checked out too. You know, just in case.

Me? Why? Oh....because of the outbreak. I'm not sure. Whether they have some way to stop it.

[But if there was a chance? Wouldn't that be worth it? To get that worry off of her chest? She'd rather be the first one to figure it, rather than AJ, at least. In case something went wrong about it somehow.]
