The gods'. I'm not entirely familiar with the mythology, but we've been brought here by the gods of Asgard, who are at war with the fire and ice giants. They want to destroy Asgard, and also the World Tree, which somehow connects all the worlds. There's something...wrong...here. Supposedly our presence can help that as well.
[gestures to a faceless, grayscale citizen passing by]

Yeah, that's in no way freaky or abnormal. So gods of legend, check. Destruction of a world, check. Heroes from another place? I guess it figures, but why take our powers? I was using mine!
no subject
According to the gods, our powers are all linked to the energies of our world, which are different than the energies here. They're incompatible. I've been told that it's fatal, to be given one's powers back here.
no subject
But that's -- I mean, I'm no genius in the science department, but even I am calling bull shit on this.
no subject
I wasn't here for it, but I was told by someone who either died or watched them die.

Anything else or am I good to graduate Crazy City 101?

Ah, you'll have been assigned to a House, with a patron god, and you get a power of their bestowing. Each god seems to have two abilities that they give to travelers, and you'll get one.
no subject
A consolation prize? This bites. I'm betting they're not anything cool.
no subject
I think we are from very different places.
It rather depends on your House and your definition of cool.
no subject
My house is 'of El' and my definition is 'very.'
no subject
[she says it like she doesn't expect him to have any idea]
And you?
[o kon. you get an eyebrow raise and a bit of a hip cock]
El is not one of the gods and very is not a definition.
no subject
You said 'house' -- you didn't say 'god'. And I'm a descendant of the house of El in a roundabout way and I am very cool with it, thank you for noticing.
no subject
[shakes her head a little, but her mouth is quirked in amusement, not frustration]
Perhaps I'm being unclear. I am Sophie Gargamel, of Gargamel, but my House is Hel.
no subject
Are you saying one of these so-called gods is going to give me a power? Because, I dunno. That's Wondergirl's origin and I think she's got dibs.
no subject
And since each House only has two potential powers, nobody gets 'dibs'.
no subject
So how do we find out our 'House'?
no subject
No one greeted you when you woke up? She took me to my Hall.
no subject
The chick with no face? I wasn't really paying attention to what she was saying.

[rocks her head back in that 'jeez, should've thought of that before' gestures]
What color is the stone in your bracelet?
no subject
[Fishing out the bracelet to give it a skeptical glance.] Green's not really my colour. I'm more of a blue or red kind of guy.
[Baldr!]
no subject
I'm not sure you'd be a good fit for my House.
[and she wasn't showing it just to show off, she's actually pulling up the network. give her a moment, she has to look through the handy infodump documents until she finds what she needs. green is Baldr, and...]
Baldr House's powers are...flight and regeneration.
