YA RLY X-(

But no. Arthur finds Mary fascinating, very simply put. She presents to him something he has never had before. Imagine the first time two children play together in kindergarten. There's curiosity, interest, and a little bit of kicking sand in their face. Arthur can talk to Mary in a way he can't with others. They're both hunters and fighters and warriors, but she's not his soldier, which means he's not responsible for her life and she doesn't have to answer to him. Leon is his brother but he's sworn to him by knighthood - they can't talk casually the way he can with Mary. While she isn't the first to understand, she's the first that's allowed to understand, and Arthur likes talking to her if only because he can finally relate to someone openly.

She's kind of a brat and drives him mad at times, and her insistence on him cleaning is near insulting but only because that cultural divide is really difficult to overcome. He's trying, really, but he is royalty and that part of him will never really be able to change. He feels entitled because he is entitled, and Mary challenging him on that will probably lead to a fight some day. Don't worry though, it'll be good for them. :(b

Aside from that, he really did mean it when he said he thinks he might consider her a friend someday. He wants to know more about her, but possibly more significantly, he wants to tell her more about himself, which sounds really arrogant but it's actually really rare and important. Arthur is a closed shell. It's really difficult to break through that. But they can see eye to eye on some things, and it makes him want to try.
