Cloud respects her for being so responsible at her age and saving him from a diet consisting solely of chicken nuggets and sandwiches but he doesn't always know how to deal with her. Since, for one thing, he's not the best at social stuff anyway. He has like... no experience whatever with her age group. She's somewhere between kid, mini adult and girl he should keep an eye out for since not letting girls get hurt has been a hang-up for forever. It's frustrated him that she doesn't really want protecting, although I think the thing with the ice fairies helped. Now he can be frustrated that dead people can't go back to their world alive, what the hell gods?

Overall he likes her, wants to help her out if he can, isn't really sure if he can or if she needs what he can do because she's got other friends. ...And while he thinks it's good that she's responsible, he is a brat, and is pretty likely to roll his eyes when she gets too bossy for him. He can't right now, black eye. XD He sympathizes with her a bit about missing her mom since he grew up with only his mom (hasn't brought her up much though because his past is one messy can of worms right now).

I feel so bad that she misreads him at every. single. damn. turn. Eventually she'll just have to be like "WHAT'S YOUR DEAL," and hopefully they can sort some things out.
