[He takes a moment to glance around at the colorless buildings before turning his calm gaze back at Ivan.]

...Asgard? That's not anywhere on Earth, or Gilgenheim, is it?

[He pauses, clasping his hands together worriedly and biting his lip a bit. Good, good, Ivan. Good.]

No offense, but why would the gods want to be interested in me?

[A lie, he could think of plenty of reasons.]

No, it isn't. It's in a separate world of it's own.

[A pause, and then he says, in a rather serious tone:]

You're here to fight a war.

[There's only a look of utter confusion on Ivan's face, him not being sure whether to think this is another story he's been thrown into by Michael and Vaylora, or perhaps this is just his brain creating yet another realm for him to explore. Who knew at this point- the magic coursing in his black veins tended to do that.]

[There's a bright smile at hearing his second home's language, and he can't help but nod a little.]

You've been given a power. It depends on which house you are in. For example, people in Thor's House tend to either have the ability over fire or ice. People in Loki's House can either have telepathy or telekinesis. And the list goes on.

Which house are you in? Do you know?

[He blinks a little, and puts his hand to his chin, trying to remember.]

I think they told me Freyr. That's one of the houses, right?

[It's so easy for him to fake a smile and say where he "belongs," when in fact he knows otherwise. He's been studying the other homes long before this, well aware of where he's supposed to fit in, and Loki always tends to make people suspicious. Freyr is much more simple, more calm, and so innocent to play with.]

[Jacob then falls silent, and he just stares at Ivan with those incredibly ancient blue eyes of his, his expression unreadable. It's almost as if he's staring right through the young man into something deep and unfathomable...and then his expression relaxes, and the piercing gaze is gone as if it was never there in the first place.]

Is that truly your house?

[There is no malice or suspicion in the question. He merely asks it out of curiosity, as if it's just something he wanted to ask because of something he noticed out of the corner of his eye.]

[The question raises no looks or concerns, Ivan blinking a little and giving another nod. Underneath, however, he notes that Jacob is insightful, and with that, more and more interesting.]

Well, yes, if you say it's for beautiful things. I'm a writer, I publish stories for the Monarchy back home, and they've made me a studio in Germania to continue my work.

What sorts of stories? Fiction or non-fiction?

[He seems interested, especially at the mention of the Monarchy and Germania.]

And...what is the name of the world you come from? Is it Earth?

[Ivan actually chuckles a little at that, smiling.]

It depends on what the Monarchy wants. I have to abide by their rules, after all. And Да, it can get tiring.

[The man shrugs, looking bothered, but knowing he can't argue or do anything against it. Well, as his facade, he can't.]

Yes, I'm from Earth. It's 18.79 AX, currently.

What they want? So, you can't write what you want? That's a little unfair, in my opinion.

[He narrows his eyes slightly at that number.]

AX? What does that stand for? The Earth I come from, we only have BC and AD...

It's how things are, unfortunately. The stories I write usually deal with the grand eras of success and creativity, all lead by the Monarchy.

[He pauses, giving a nervous smile.]

I don't go against it, I'm already marked for being unique enough.

[But he nods again at the question.]

We used to have those too, a long time ago. AX is Atorae Xerxes. It's just an abbreviation of when the first man from the future- they called him "Xerxes"- visited out world.
