Welcome to the second season of the Asgard Eventide Test Drive Meme! This is your hostess, Noah, very pleased to bring this back after the success of our last drive.

Now the steps are the same as the last time. In fact, mostly copy-pasta:
Step 1: Post with the character and journal you're wanting to play. You're more than welcome to leave the message blank or have a fun little scenario going on. Like fighting that dragon thing or other Assgard shenanigans.

Okay I was a little off in my scheduling the last time, but these memes will go up the day of reserves, depending on my own ability to get them up. Other than that, go ahead and have fun.

Well, yes. The way you're holding yourself and that ever so small furrowing of the brow that you have, along with that frown, and -- well, I could go on. You're not exactly the best at hiding your confusion.

[Jane gives him a small once-over]

Law enforcement?

What are you supposed to be, Sherlock Holmes?

[He chuckles, shaking his head.]

No, I'm just observant.

And me, too. Well, I still work for the police. CBI. I don't get the shiny badge, though. Just laminated plastic.

_{[(Yeah, that should suit you), Kyle thinks but doesn't say, because he's not a complete jerk and this guy is as lost as he is, so there's no point in picking a fight just because he made a weird first impression.]}

Not a proper cop then, are you? Let me guess, you're being observant.

_{[...that doesn't mean he has to play too nice, but at least he doesn't sound mean, just a bit snarky.]}

Actually, I'm a consultant for the CBI. You should make sure you get your words right, they can get very confusing, you know. Consultant, observant. Very different.

[Not playing nice right back at you, Kyle. With a smile! That's even better, right?]

So, ex-cop? Doesn't seem like you're too happy about that. What happened?

_{[Actually, no, it's kind of infuriating. Especially cause Jane seems so damn cheerful about potentially pushing buttons.]

[Observe Kyle bristle.]}

What's this, an interrogation? That's none of your business.

[He smiles, looking sheepish.]

You're right, I'm sorry. I shouldn't be trying to look into your business. But you have to admit, we are all stuck in some weird reality [that he refuses to be real] and we should try and get to know each other, correct?

Prying into a man's life isn't the best way to make friends, you know.

_{[And well, at least they agree on that - Kyle's personally waiting for the glorious moment he'll wake up in his car. Right now, though, he just makes a pointed gesture Jane's way.]}

It certainly makes for conversation.

[He peers down at the gesture made at him, then back at Kyle. Then he holds out his hand for a handshake. Obviously this man could use a little order. They all could.]

Patrick Jane. It's nice to meet you.

Kyle Hyde.

_{[He accepts the offered hand, his shake firm but a little short-lived.]}

Might be nicer if we weren't in Crazytown.

[Jane notes the way he shakes hands, but doesn't say a word about it. He was efficient.]

At least there are other people in the same situation as we are. I assure you, if you were alone in this, you'd have a higher probability of going insane. So, there's nothing to worry about. As long as you have human contact you should be fine.

_{[Kyle raises an eyebrow, not having been really serious with that quip, but nods anyway. (Thanks for the tip, Doc.)]}

Psychologist also on your resume?

[Jane furrows his brow slightly, then smiles and shakes his head.]

No, not at all.

_{[Kyle shrugs slightly in response.]}

Could've fooled me.

I did fool you, though. If not Sherlock Holmes, then a psychologist. You were an officer once, I'm sure you knew who was doing what at some point. Unless I'm wrong, and you were incredibly terrible at getting a read on people.

_{[He rolls his eyes, looking exasperated. That was snark, man. He knows the psychologist type and you're not it.]}

If I were I wouldn't have lasted even two days in the force, Jane. And since we're talking about reading people, you're not exactly blipping my lawman radar here. So what's in that gig for you, huh?

[He says that rather happily.]

_{[Don't mind the state cop who's always had a bit of an issue with the fancy police - and even if he didn't work with the LAPD, he still has reservations about the whole thing.]}

You have? I'm sure none of them have solved as many crimes as I have. I, and my team, I'll have to add. They might get upset if I said otherwise.

It's not my team. I don't own them, but I work with them. I'm not above or below them. We all work with each other, and a friend of mine is the boss.

No, I offered my help to the CBI to solve crimes and they accepted.
