Welcome to the second season of the Asgard Eventide Test Drive Meme! This is your hostess, Noah, very pleased to bring this back after the success of our last drive.

Now the steps are the same as the last time. In fact, mostly copy-pasta:

Okay I was a little off in my scheduling the last time, but these memes will go up the day of reserves, depending on my own ability to get them up. Other than that, go ahead and have fun.

The mistake is understandable. We do look remarkably similar.

[Lucifer definitely does sound amused at that. If this place is crawling with humans as he suspects it is, then he can't expect them to be able to tell him apart from Jacob.]

[Nick didn't have a twin, so Jacob is probably not family. From the way Jacob phrased that last part, Lucifer suspects that Jacob probably isn't exactly human either.]

Jacob. A good name.

[Lucifer presses his hands together, glancing around them.]

I hedge to guess this is not your usual circumstance.

It is rather obvious, isn't it?

[He nods and smiles slightly, though his watchful eyes never change.]

Thank you. I would say the same of yours, but then again, your name is not exactly revered in most cultures.

[Jacob shrugs at that last part.]

No, not at all. Then again, this place is far from usual, so why expect the usual from it at all?

[Lucifer inclines his head, turning his full attention back to Jacob with a rueful little smile.]

My name is not a name most humans have been inclined to revere. I have had to settle for infamy more often than not.

[He doesn't sound particularly disappointed or fussed about that.]

Would you mind clarifying what "far from usual" means in concern to this place? I'm not particularly fond of being caught unawares.

How does that feel, I wonder? To be hated so widely? Or is that what you were going for all along?

[He clasps his hands in front of him, his attention on Lucifer completely.]

We are all from different worlds, some with completely different rules from others. We have all been given powers while our original ones have been stripped away. And currently, it seems we are fighting a war for the so-called gods here. Fighting to prevent the end of the world.

But I assume you wouldn't care about that last part, would you?

[Lucifer sighs softly, looking down.]

Oh, no, that was never my intention.

[He listens closely to Jacob's explanation. He has been wondering why he couldn't feel things as he normally does, and he hasn't had the chance to test what amount of ability he has in this condition. To know that he is most likely limited in most or perhaps all manner of his usual powers is worrisome, but he doesn't let that show. He smiles at that question, though.]

Quite the contrary.

I have an investment in the business, you could say.

Many people forget that you used to be an angel, you know. The public opinion is that you have horns and goats feet. But that was never the case. Things are always much more complex than they seem.

[He tilts his head at that, his smile turning into a small frown.]

So you would aid those who would wish to destroy us? [A pause, and then:] Why? What would you get out of it? The God you know isn't here. Only these Norse gods are.

Human beings aren't creatures built for long memory.

[Norse gods, huh. Isn't that what Gabriel was playing at for so many years, trapezing about on Earth for all those years? Horrid, traitorous things, those pagan creatures. Lucifer's smile momentarily turns ugly before smoothing out, lips still upturned but utterly humorless.]

Are these Norse gods planning to destroy the world or are they trying to save it?

That is certainly true. Over all my years of living I've seen many examples of that.

[His eyebrows furrow at Lucifer's ugly expression, lips still pursed in that small frown of his.]

Save it. That is why we were all brought here. So that we could prevent it.

[So much about this is rubbing Lucifer the wrong way. That Jacob isn't human and most likely not angel or demon and Lucifer can't tell what exactly he is. That he's been brought here, apparently by pagan gods, to play at the end of the world when he's already gone and done that. That he's been reduced to something almost completely powerless. That he's been reduced. He's starting to get angry. Although he's trying very hard to control it, the emotion does make the pleasant placidity of his usual persona chafe.]

Is that so.

Pagan gods are notoriously untrustworthy.

I don't lie.

[He glances away from Lucifer, as if he isn't engaged in the conversation as much as he should be. But he actually is- the way his blue eyes dart back to Lucifer at the "untrustworthy" statement shows this.]

And you would know? How odd, I wouldn't expect pagan gods and God living on the same world. That would complicate things a bit, wouldn't it?
