Take a peek, see if maybe you have some potential castmates or characters you might want to try out. Anyone can post to the test drive meme, including duplicates! Please put your character name and canon in the title of your comment. All threads are considered open to everyone! Tag around and make some friends (or enemies)! If you decide to apply to the game, you can use your TDM threads for your app samples! You only need to provide seven comments if you use TDM samples. You can't really be late to a TDM! This will be considered open until the next one goes live next month. You can make up your own scenario, interact with one of the locations in the game, use the welcome process of your character waking or selecting a god house, or use our optional prompt below! You do not need to pick a god house to play on the TDM! You can have your character still in the process of discussing/deciding/despairing instead. Wanderers. ♥ ❧ optional scenario. A thunderstorm seems to have taken over Asgard's sky, dark clouds hanging eerily low and crackling with energy. The entire city is cast into a gloomy grey, the actual colors of the plants and buildings just a little more dull than normal. The air feels thick and heavy, even indoors, and the weather seems to be having varying effects on everyone. A sudden clap of thunder might bring back a sharp memory of the last time you were truly afraid of something. A bright flash of lightning might make your heart race with excitement and a sudden drive to do something you ordinarily wouldn't. The heavy downpour of rain might make you inexplicably sad about something, whether real or imagined. These effects might only last a second, or perhaps they stay with you all day. Maybe you just have to get out of the rain and dry off, that's all - perhaps it's just normal weather. navigation.

[ Honestly, she'd almost forgotten how fast Lalli was when he ran and she was mid-wave when suddenly he was on her, arms wrapped around her shoulders. Well she was glad to see her cousin too. But before she could even talk she was taken aback by Lalli's repeated mantra. Wait? Who was stupid? Was it her? Was it Lalli? ]

I promise I didn't end up here on purpose! And no one is stupid!

[ She's definitely confused by Lalli's reaction - Admittedly, this was normal. ]

[skittering]

❰ oh, he's definitely calling her stupid - but in the time it takes her to get around to bemusedly arguing the point, he's already managing to pull himself back under control. because she's real, physically tangibly real, and she's here and suddenly he can't quite reconcile such a strong reaction with a world in which tuuri is standing here, perfectly fine and more than a little confused. it's alarmingly normal, enough so that he's managed to make himself uncomfortable.

so he's.... definitely peeling himself off of his cousin now, crossing his arms with a disgruntled mrr, which is shortly followed by: ❱ Which one did you choose? Was it Honir? ❰ there are nearly a dozen of them, but yes, obviously she's going to have made things easy by choosing the same one he chose without even knowing he's here. that's a 100% reasonable thing to expect of someone who already managed to come back from the dead. ❱

[skaldish]

[ Tuuri actually makes a surprised noise, showing her currently blank bracelets. ]

I haven't made the decision yet, because it seems really important even though I know we need to make a decision now, but I was thinking of Honir... Is that bad? [ Today is your lucky day, Lalli if you want your cousin in the same house as you... ]

[skittering]

❰ lalli's own bracelets, meanwhile, glow a deep ruddy sort of red. but he doesn't show them in return, instead saying - ❱ No. ❰ no, it's not bad. ❱ I picked Honir. The housing is good, and if he lets me scout, we'll need a skald. ❰ y'know. practical reasons, not at all covering up his newfound appreciation for keeping tuuri nearby where he can see her.

grudgingly, he adds: ❱ If you don't like that one, Emil picked Tyr.

[skaldish]

[ Tuuri blinks a few seconds, before breaking out into her usual smile. ] I wouldn't mind that at all! And I'm glad we're not alone. You don't think anyone else is here, do you? If not, I hope they'll be okay...

[ She fidgets a little, moving on to the next topic, rocking on her heels a bit. ]

You know what? I know we're not home anymore but..Isn't this kind of exciting?

[skittering]

❰ good. good, that's... good. it's a relief, is what it is. for years, lalli struggled to reconcile with his cousin's hovering, but now he'll take the hovering any day over the alternative.

honir it is, then.

as for the questions that come pouring in, he lets her get this batch of them out in full before giving it any response. ❱

No. ❰ a beat, then: ❱ No, they aren't here. And no, this isn't exciting. ❰ but he can't quite say that he wants to go home, not now that she's here. her being here... it kind of changes everything. he promised emil he'd find a way home, but what if they can't take her with them? ❱

Where is your sense of adventure Lalli

[skaldish]

[ Tuuri huffs a bit in response, her voice having just the slightest hint of a whine. ] But it's like we're on another adventure! We don't know when we can go home so we might as well make the best of it!

And.. I don't think there's trolls here so there's no sickness here. Which means.. Well, I don't have to worry about getting sick. [ There's definitely a fondness in her voice at the prospect of being able to wander around without a mask. ]

i guess he needs tuuri to app in and kick his butt about it :')

❰ right. no need to worry about tuuri getting sick here. a fact that she points out with no lack of cheer, which... confuses lalli, just a bit. he doesn't pretend like he understands tuuri much better than he understands anyone else, but he knows she wouldn't be able to talk about it so casually like this. something's wrong.

he steps back in front of her, looking her in the eye so she knows he's serious when he asks: ❱

Where were you, before you were here? What were you doing?

Oh no twist my arm why don't you ;D

[ Tuuri finds herself wanting to chide Lalli for doing the stare, but she does grasp the seriousness of the situation and answers him. ]

Well, it's been a few weeks now but, we're on our way to the pick-up point. I went to sleep for the night and when I woke up I was here. I just talked to you before you went out scouting. Did you forget?

[ There's nothing but sincerity in her voice. It also still hasn't dawned on her yet that Lalli is from further along the timeline. ]

can i just say that half of the discord is yelling about how pure and wonderful she is

No. ❰ it's abrupt, almost a little defensive. no, he didn't forget. not for a single day has he forgotten.

but she doesn't remember any of it. it's at least a week that she's missing, the worst week. she thinks she fell asleep in the tank and here she is, and lalli can't force himself to be the one to tell her she's wrong.

he swallows hard, but it's mostly hidden as he glances off across the grounds. ❱ Some people do forget things, when they show up here. I wanted to make sure you didn't.

[ If Tuuri catches the defensiveness of that, she doesn’t say. In fact she responds brightly, the same as ever. ]

Oh! That’s good to know. Well, I’m pretty sure I haven’t forgotten anything - I’d notice if there was a gap.. I think? But it’s weird... You act like you’ve been here for a little longer but that doesn’t make sense since I was talking to you last night before I ended up here.

100%. also i'm basically forward-dating this thread to newbie arrival time for continuity

❰ oh. well, there is that. if she's going to be any help here (which she's going to insist on being, knowing tuuri), it's something she should know. ❱

You probably were. ❰ his shoulder lifts in a little shrug, and he moves past her to start walking back toward the palace she came from. she still has to go tell honir that she's joining him, after all. of course, he keeps on talking under the assumption that she's following. ❱ That doesn't matter. I've been here for over a month.

*thumbs up*

Of course I was- [ Oh geeze, Lalli is on the move and so Tuuri trots to follow. ] - You've been here a month? [ She purses her lips a little, thinking about that information. ] I wonder if that means that time flows weirdly here. [ It's only an inkling of an idea though. She of course continues to assume that Lalli was pulled not too long after her. ]

[ She does slow down as she realizes Lalli is headed back for the palace. ] But... I just came from there.

reserves are open c: just a heads-up since faith-mod wasn't around to plurk or announce it

❰ time definitely flows weirdly here, or at least between here and home. tuuri doesn't need lalli's input on that one and he doesn't offer it. he does hear her slowing down and, in lieu of slowing down himself, he says: ❱

But you didn't pick one. Now you are. ❰ she can't leave the palace grounds if she doesn't, so the sooner they get it over with, the better. ❱

*Slams into the reserves*

[skaldish]

[ Seeing that Lalli isn't slowing down, she sighs a bit and catches up. ]

Yes, but I wanted to look around first! There's time for that, isn't there? [ She's might've missed the memo about not being able to leave the palace because she was too busy taking in everything. Oops. ]

[skittering]

After. ❰ to his credit, he lifts a hand to pat tuuri placatingly on the shoulder. this may or may not have had the secondary motive of once again confirming her existence in tangible reality. his trust in the reality of her presence comes and goes in waves and as jarringly normal as this felt just a few short seconds ago, it's looped back around to surreal and he's glad for the opportunity to subtly ground himself in this brief, light contact. ❱

It's better once you leave the castle. You can't do that until you tell them who you choose. ❰ or, he thinks, choose aloud inside the palace regardless of whether or not any of the 'gods' are present. ❱

[skaldish]

[ There's a bit of a whine in her voice but she capitulates. ] Fine. But we're seeing everything right after this! [ She is surprised at the pat on the shoulder, this is Lalli afterall, who gives his touch sparingly. But for some reason she finds some comfort in the gesture, even though she's hardly distressed or worried at the moment. ]

Ohh, so we need to pick first before we leave? [ Okay, I guess that makes more sense... ] Do we need to tell them directly?

[skittering]

No. ❰ he doesn't think so, anyway. ❱ Just go inside and pick. One of them will hear you.

❰ not the most considerate way to do things, but it worked for him. he asked which one was responsible for scouts and, when told 'honir', he said 'that one' and skulked off to the exit. ❱

[skaldish]

So I just say it out loud? I don't have to do anything weird, right? [ This is somewhat important and with Lalli you can never be too sure with details.. ]

❰ lalli shrugs a little. ❱ I didn't. ❰ maybe you're supposed to, but he has no idea one way or another. ❱

[ She stops as they reach the entrance of the palace. ]

I guess it's time to go in and pick Honir now.
