All threads are considered open to everyone! Tag around and make some friends (or enemies)! If you decide to apply to the game, you can use your TDM threads for your app samples! You only need to provide seven comments if you use TDM samples. You can't be "late" to a TDM! This will be considered open until the next one goes live next month. You can make up your own scenario, interact with one of the locations in the game, use the welcome process of your character selecting a god house, or use our optional prompt below! You do not need to pick a god house to play on the TDM! You can have your character still in the process of discussing/deciding/despairing instead. If you are accepted to the game, you can keep TDM threads as game canon as long as you fudge some of the details depending on your original thread. Wanderers. ♥ ❧ optional scenario. As you enter Asgard proper, many of the natives have gathered into curious crowds to greet these mysterious children of the World Tree. Some of them carry baskets of flowers and nervously offer one to any Wanderers that come near. They are vibrant and colorful, picked from the wilds surrounding Asgard, and they might have an odd effect on your character if they sniff the flowers directly. Purple flowers will make your character very giggly and easily amused by everything they see and hear. Orange flowers will make your character feel very warm all over, like the sun is beating down on them directly. Blue flowers will make your character somewhat short and impatient with anything that seems like even a minor inconvenience to them. Effects of the flowers can wear off anywhere between a few minutes to an hour. And for those new to Asgard, this scenario aligns with some of the general curses we might have in the game! navigation.

[ chief is a title he's worn for a year now, has been prepared for all his life, and still feels like one he's trying to live up to. weighs heavy on his thoughts, the slope of his shoulders: the concern and love for his people, for doing right by them, the fear of failing. being here, being away from them, seems a lot like failing. ]

[ hiccup recognizes the gesture when jamie offers his hand; so he takes it, gives a firm shake. ]

Hiccup Haddock, of Berk. It's good to meet you.

[ scotland doesn't ring a bell, but he can't stop himself from hoping jamie's heard of berk. ]

[ Jamie tilts his head to the side a little after shaking his hand. ]

Ye mean as a clan?

[ maybe?? Sadly, Berk means nothing to Jamie, but no one he's spoken to knows of Scotland, either. He has no idea what that means, really. ]

'Tis a pleasure to meet ye--Hiccup.

[ There's a slight smile at the name, but other than that, who is Jamie to say anything about people's names? hIs is long and takes forever to say. ]

And I appreciate what ye say; I'll do the same for ye, you have my word.

[ tribe, clan, pretty much the same thing. the people of berk have banded together for centuries, have lived on the old island of berk for seven generations. hiccup's father was the last chief, and his father before him, and onwards in a line unbroken as old as their people. ]

Thank you. [ he says, then...hesitates. it's not related to going home, but there is something that's been pulling at his mind, bothering him, and maybe jamie can help. ] Actually, [ slowly, ] can you answer a question for me? Have you been to the Odin district yet?

[ Jamie stands with his thumbs hooked in his belt and nods at the question. ]

Aye, I have. 'Tis where the library is, though I didna have much of a mind to browse long when I discovered it.

[ He'd gone inside though, just on the off chance that the promise of knowledge and academia might lure his wife if she were here somewhere. It was large and impressive, from what he'd gathered. ]

Why do ye ask?

[ he gestures widely, as though trying to convey a large space ]

...big, golden buildings? Lots of people inside? Feasting warrior types?

[ valhalla. he's hoping, despite himself, that valhalla is here, and accessible. what wouldn't he give to see his father again? if there's even the slightest chance, he has to ask, to look. ]

[ Jamie thinks about it, but he knows the answer. ]

The largest building I saw seemed to be a castle, but it wasna golden, only big, but stone. Admittedly, I've been only of one thought and that's to see if I can find my wife, but even still. I dinna think I could miss a grand, golden building.

[ He kind of hates to disappoint him. ]

[ that's...unquestionably disappointing.

but once hiccup has an idea, he holds on with both hands and is hard-pressed to let go. so he does frown, briefly, but then shakes his head and starts to move as if to go. ]

[ Jamie has to ask, wanting to be sure and try to make up for being largely a let down. ]

[ it's not jamie's fault...! but hiccup pauses long enough to consider the offer. it's a kindness, when jamie really doesn't have to, and it's appreciated. ]

I wouldn't say no, [ he says, honestly. ] We can look for your wife along the way, too. Maybe an extra pair of eyes can help.

Aye, and I promise this time, to pay attention to the actual buildings.

[ He's not going to say that he's so unobservant that he didn't see a large gold castle, but he's also been focused on one singular familiar face. ]

My wife is tall for a lass, wi' a mop of brown hair sae curly...

[ He smiles just a little to picture her, swallowing back the emotion that naturally comes with thinking of his wife. ]
