the test drive meme. ❧ let's do this. Anyone can post to the test drive meme, including duplicates! Please put your character name and canon in the title of your comment. All threads are considered open to everyone! Tag around and make some friends (or enemies)! If you decide to apply to the game, you can use your TDM threads for your app samples! You only need to provide seven comments if you use TDM samples. You can't be "late" to a TDM! This will be considered open until the next one goes live next month. You can make up your own scenario, interact with one of the locations in the game, use the welcome process of your character selecting a god house, or use our optional prompt below! You do not need to pick a god house to play on the TDM! You can have your character still in the process of discussing/deciding/despairing instead. If you are accepted to the game, you can keep TDM threads as game canon as long as you fudge some of the details depending on your original thread. Wanderers. ♥ ❧ optional scenario. As you enter Asgard proper, many of the natives have gathered into curious crowds to greet these mysterious children of the World Tree. Some of them carry baskets of flowers and nervously offer one to any Wanderers that come near. They are vibrant and colorful, picked from the wilds surrounding Asgard, and they might have an odd effect on your character if they sniff the flowers directly. Purple flowers will make your character very giggly and easily amused by everything they see and hear. Orange flowers will make your character feel very warm all over, like the sun is beating down on them directly. Blue flowers will make your character somewhat short and impatient with anything that seems like even a minor inconvenience to them. Effects of the flowers can wear off anywhere between a few minutes to an hour. And for those new to Asgard, this scenario aligns with some of the general curses we might have in the game! navigation.

( Yes, hello Lalli, etc. etc. He's probably already heard Emil ramble on about how ridiculous this is, why is this happening, he's probably never going to go home again for one reason or another, yadda yadda. His attitude hasn't softened much, even though there is a small comfort in not being totally alone. They're good at surviving together! At least there's that!

Emil catches him slink in out of the corner of his eye and he casually observes Lalli making himself at home. )

Are you staying here...? ( He vaguely remembers some sort of rules about where you can and can't live; by the way, that's also really bogus. ) I don't even know if you can, actually.

❰ yes, he's definitely heard emil ramble about all of this - and in a language that lalli inexplicably understands, not that he's made any verbal indication to clue emil in on that particular fact. to be honest, lalli's not entirely sure what to think about it. they shared a language when they were both housed in one mind, but never before that and never since then. at least not while they've been awake.

emil's questions earn a glance around and a bit of a shrug. he doesn't know if he's able to stay. he doesn't know if emil would want him to, even if he were. he'll probably wander back to his own 'quarters' sometime. for now though, he's here.

'tyr', this one's called. he rolls the word around in his mind. then after a pause, he asks: ❱

( There's an expectation in place that Lalli must understand him. Emil himself can understand and talk to others, however that's possible, so it doesn't make sense that Lalli would be an exception to that rule. Still, the unresponsiveness wasn't a surprise, even if he likely questioned why he wasn't taking full advantage of this sudden linguistic clarity.

When Lalli actually says something, it does take him aback...even if it's totally normal, pedantic conversation. Yes...it will be nice to not have to reason out Finnish and then parrot it back brokenly.

The downside is that it's a hard question to answer...he offers a pointed shrug. )

I don't know. The traits aren't bad, but it doesn't really matter to me...I'm not invested in siding with any particular God, it's just not optional.

( If they'd been shown the available real estate, however, maybe he wouldn't have picked so flippantly. Looking around and seeing the other unoccupied beds won't stop stinging for a while. )

If another God's house has single rooms I'm asking to switch.

❰ the unresponsiveness mostly boils down to the simple fact that even when he spoke to people in finnish, he was never good at it, and embracing a shared language eliminates one of his better excuses not to bother speaking.

meanwhile, he listens to emil's flimsy reasoning, at first offering only a thoughtful hum. then he's reaching into one of the pockets of his tunic and pulling out a small notebook and a pen, taken from one of the stores along his journeys. he intends to see if reynir's runes work here, but he supposes can spare one piece of paper to help emil out.

after a brief ten- or fifteen-second sketch, he's presenting emil with a circle sliced into nine pieces. the one on the top, the one to the left of it, and the one two to the right of it all have 'yes' written semi-legibly in them. ❱

These. ❰ those are the three that have something like bedrooms, at least that he knows of. ❱ Maybe more, I don't know. ❰ suffice to say that if lalli hasn't been with emil, he's been diligently scouting. ❱
