All threads are considered open to everyone! Tag around and make some friends (or enemies)! If you decide to apply to the game, you can use your TDM threads for your app samples! You can make up your own scenario, interact with one of the locations in the game, use the welcome process of your character selecting a god house, or use our optional prompt below! You do not need to pick a god house to play on the TDM! You can have your character still in the process of discussing/deciding/despairing instead. If you are accepted to the game, you can keep TDM threads as game canon as long as you fudge some of the details depending on your original thread. Wanderers. ♥ ❧ optional scenario. As you enter Asgard proper, many of the natives have gathered into curious crowds to greet these mysterious children of the World Tree. Some of them carry baskets of flowers and nervously offer one to any Wanderers that come near. They are vibrant and colorful, picked from the wilds surrounding Asgard, and they might have an odd effect on your character if they sniff the flowers directly. Purple flowers will make your character very giggly and easily amused by everything they see and hear. Orange flowers will make your character feel very warm all over, like the sun is beating down on them directly. Blue flowers will make your character somewhat short and impatient with anything that seems like even a minor inconvenience to them. Effects of the flowers can wear off anywhere between a few minutes to an hour. And for those new to Asgard, this scenario aligns with some of the general curses we might have in the game! navigation.

[ Jamie blinks at the young woman owlishly for a moment. ]

I beg your pardon, miss, but I dinna understand anything of what you're saying. I mean, I follow ye dinna want to think too deeply about yourself, but I dinna ken--dinna know what a...a 'Netflix' is.

[ It's only now occurring to her that they're not only from alternate Earths, but different times as well. ]

Um, sorry. It's... a way to watch actors? I dunno if— sorry. I guess we're from really different places or something? Maybe different times too, if that's a thing.

[ He tries to tame is accent, truly. ]

[ She's pretty floored by that revelation. Like... that's before the American Revolutionary War, and she's never been great at history anyway, so she has no clue about what life was like for him except that there were no cars or toilets. ]

Yeah, I'm from way later. I'm Tessa MacKenzie.

[ She offers her hand for a shake. ]

'Mackenzie' ye say? My mam was a Mackenzie.

[ He's amused by her exclamation, though. ]

When ye say 'way later,' how much later would that be?

For real? That's cool. I don't know anything about genealogy, but I always assumed we were Scottish.

[ She makes a bit of a face at his question, like she's not sure how he'll take the answer. ]

[ He does the math in his head, and Christ, it's not even the same century Claire was from before she traveled back in time. The shock plays over his face before he gets ahold of himself. ]

Is this place more or less advanced than 2016?

Well, I'll have to see more of it, but it's about the same? I mean, recent events back home sort of sent us spiraling backwards, but before that? We had electricity and running water n'at.

[ She doesn't realize she's using vernacular from home that means "and that," and continues on. ]

But I heard there was magic powering this place, and that's totally weird and unbelievable to me, so I guess I'll have to see it in action to know for sure.

[ Those are the things Jamie's heard of from Claire; electricity, indoor plumbing. That sounds more familiar, though he tries to piece together the end of her sentence. Whatever 'n'at' is, he'll figure it out later. ]

Magic then, is unfamiliar to both of us. Ye may be right, we'll simply have to live it, experience it.

[ They could probably trade words that the other doesn't understand all day if they had the mind to. ]

Part of me is kind of hoping that's just what they call it, and it's just really advanced technology. Magic seems like... I dunno. In movies— I mean, in stories it always seems limitless. Like it can do anything. And when you don't know what's possible, then you don't know what's next.

[ She's already been living the unknown, and it really, really sucks. Just trying to survive day to day is hard enough, but knowing that there's magic out there that can make tidal waves or stop time sets her a bit on edge. ]

[ What she says, that first sentence, actually does mean something to Jamie. His wife was nearly burned for being a witch--all because she knew too much about how the body worked and what could cure things. There were other, jealousy shaped reasons to be sure, but the 'case' was made by Father Bain when he'd left a boy to die from an exorcism when he'd really only been accidentally poisoned.

The rest of what she says about movies is lost on him. He has no idea what a movie is. ]

I think I understand what ye mean to say. It could be simple to explain, a hundred years from now. But today it seems the magic is only something we canna understand yet. Aye?
