And separate for the time being. I believe we can procure ourselves positions of employment to afford a small place, as our money is otherwise ... useless here. [And though he believes that they can solve cases for the natives, they'll still need a supplementary income.] It will be temporary. But as it remains temporary, I should warn you right away: Moriarty is here, and claims to be from the future. A time after her release. I've found no reason to believe otherwise. But she likes to pay ... house calls.
[His face scrunches up slightly at the memory, and he looks ahead. He knows it's a great deal of information to process, so he allows her to do so.]

( moriarty. that's someone who they couldn't seem to get away from lately. she looks away, but says nothing for a moment. the subject had presented itself to them earlier when they had dealt with moriarty and who they later found to be moriarty's daughter. it was a delicate subject that joan needed to float well. sherlock's feelings about moriarty would probably be better discussed at a later time. ) Has she tried anything while she was here? Reestablish her criminal network?

That's not to say he wouldn't have restarted it himself. But he was stalling, being stubborn, and perhaps hoping he might be released from that. A fleeting hope, really.]
Barring that sole limitation, I've found myself needing to tag along with her. But I've not been completely successful. [There's a pause, and when he picks up again, he sounds rather more emphatic, as if this is a frustration that's been boiling beneath the surface just waiting to be let go of.] I know not who she associates with or if she has any schemes arising. She has taunted people with her usage of Greek over these bracelets, but otherwise—[The tension doesn't leave him at all, but he does slump somewhat.] There is nothing. But there are no immediate murders. As far as I know. There is a war, and it is a pressing concern, of which I'm sure she intends to use as an opportunity.

if moriarty really was from at a later point in time after being released from jail, was she reformed? possibly. in all honesty though, the suspicions that she (and sherlock, given his actions) has of moriarty probably would never subside, especially after everything she put them through. )
Maybe between the two of us we'll be able to monitor her more closely. She may not have access to her resources though, which makes her less of a threat to others. ( still, joan knew that she was on par with sherlock with regard to intelligence and could manipulate others if she chose to. when he mentions the war, she looks up, her eyes widening. ) A war? Between who?

After all, though she claims to be from the future, he wants to know more. She drops hints often enough, but some part of him dislikes it. It's either his vanity, or something more.
(It's the lack of control. The very conceptualization that he is one step behind. Sherlock loathes it greatly.)]
I've even been to a battle already. It wasn't an experience I'd soon repeat. [But he has a feeling he will. Of course he will.]

So to summarize, people are being pulled from different places to Asgard where frost giants and gods are a text message away?
( somehow that hallucination idea she had a while ago was seeming more and more appealing.
at the mention of having gone to war, part of joan becomes angry. as consultants, self-defense training was important, sure, but at the end of the day, they weren't trained for actual combat: their battles were confined to solving crimes. )
And what made you decide to go to battle? ( she maintains a controlled tone, but a firmness underlies it. )

Which, speaking of:]
And Moriarty was on her way to be supportive. I intended to do the same. Deliver water, ensure people are returned to camp. Similar tasks like that. [There is a pointed pause.] She ... disappeared at one point. I've not yet found cause for it, but I am still looking. [But he knows his ability to find clarity when it comes to her is sometimes nonexistent. It's frustrating, and the look on his face seems to indicate that he feels the full weight of it.]

( but she did know better by this point, joan shakes her head, frustrated by the other woman. it's amazing how one other person can become such a huge pain. )
Like I said though, we'll figure out what her plans are together. You mentioned that I'd be staying somewhere different than you. I'm guessing a different god claimed you?
