MONTHLY TEST-DRIVE!

THE TEST DRIVE MEME
• Got a character you're thinking of reserving/apping this round? PUT THEM HERE! • Threads here can count as your third person sample! • Comment with your character's name and canon! • This is open to everyone! Also, test drivers can tag other test drivers. :) • Make up your own scenario or have them walk into all the doors or leave it blank for others to do it for you! • OPTIONAL SCENARIO: After your character receives his or her bracelet and the run-down from the faceless maids in the castle, they may realize that Asgard is, for the moment, completely overrun with furry animals! The city's natives are busy trying to herd cats and dogs out of the streets, the park is thronged with friendly and curious rabbits, and a small army of capybaras seems to have started a parade around the castle. Something is going on -- the natives seem exasperated as anything. Help them out? Adopt a ferret? Try to wade through goats to make it to your welcome house? At least they're non-aggressive.. for now! Make sure to have fun, and as always, feel free to hit the mods or players up with any questions you might have! ♥ |

Well, that's interesting and eyecatching. As far as Alvin knows (and he does know quite a bit), speaking to animals is a specialized skill. Sure, Jiao and Ivar could do it, but everyone was surprised about it.
Either way, Alvin's fairly certain it relies on the person in question. Animals have their own language.]
Come on, maybe they're just shy.
[He pauses, coming to stand comfortably beside the kid. The annoying part is that just chatting up kids is second-nature now. Seriously, is this really his life?]
Or maybe a kid your age just hasn't mastered their language. You're getting ahead of yourself.

...it makes sense to him, and he's sticking to that story.]
They can't be that shy if they're all out wandering around like this. [He flashes Alvin a brief grin but he's not putting the cat down.] Is it really a language people can master though?

[In a round about way, he means it as a spoken assessment of this kid's personality. He won't say a lot about what he's thinking, sure, but there is that.]
And sure. There are some. Not me, oh no, I wouldn't bother with something like that.
[Not that Alvin is expecting him to ask if he can do it, but he doesn't want to have to explain all of it, and hopes that's just enough to put the kid off that line of thought.]

Why not? [A beat, followed by a smug sort of grin.] Too scared to try? [Well, not quite enough to put him off that line of thought. Sorry.]

And it's too much work. Not too many people can do it. I've got talents better left elsewhere.
[Then again, there's also the part where he really can't learn.]

I'm a mercenary. You know what that is, right?

[Not that he ever could, not in the official sense, and his uncle never wanted him for that purpose anyway.]
I do odd jobs for money. Can't do it for a living unless you're good at it.

[Not that he does it anymore, but it's not like he's looking to work toward his goal here. That much is for sure.]
