THE TEST DRIVE MEME

There are stalls set up along all of the main streets, selling everything from savory foods to desserts to clothes to trinkets, and the vendors cheerfully call at people as they pass, trying to entice them over. The stalls are all decked in incredibly colorful banners and flags, as if attempting to beat back the grayness still lurking in a lot of the city by sheer physical force. Small musical ensembles play on street corners, and one can't go far at all without nearly running into someone juggling or swallowing swords. Good luck finding your god's welcome house in this chaos - the streets are pretty packed with people just milling around! And have fun! ♥

[She chuckled as she shuffled the deck away. Oh, you could be a little rude, Rose. She doesn't hide it that much, though the hint of sulfur in the air and the slightly uncomfortable way she didn't quite meet your eyes a lot of the time were probably a little disconcerting.]

Oh, there are a few perils unspeakable... but so long as you avoid me on the new moon, you'll miss at least one of them. [She chuckled dryly.] However, I think I can help you with a few of those perils. You are, after all, a soul filled with curiosity.

Which peril would you want to know about first I wonder?

Well, knowing more about who I'm speaking with is the polite path. [Samantha brought up the subject of her curiosity first, she feigns polite interest with her smile though she's well aware she's transparently eager under it.] What happens on the new moon?

[She took the deck and tapped it. Two cards fell out, the Chariot and the Tower. Both landed reversed and she frowned down at the cards, scooping them up and grunting in annoyance before putting the stack firmly away.]

They're being testy, though that's accurate enough. The world tends to shatter, friends turn into enemies, people get hurt. I turn into a creature of instincts, without any sort of limiters that people usually have in them. There's no ethics, no 'I really shouldn't.' If a sick urge gets into my edge I go with it, just for the sake of doing it. Taboos are meant to be broken, and everyone's a doll waiting to have its head popped off.

Basically... [she shrugged and looked at her.] I turn into what I look like on the outside. All the demonic hormones bile up and take over my head.

Rule of thumb. If you see me on the new moon, and I'm flirting with you... run.

I'm sorry, what? [Half demons from the depths of a netherrealm could exist, theoretically. Samantha might be such a creature but Rose pieces things together from facts and...] Flirting is the trigger for me to turn tail and scurry away? [It seems improbable that Samantha could be what she is heavily implying.

It also strikes Rose as probably not much fun for her if she's not pulling the wool over her eyes. She files away that thought for later, if it's true then she can start tallying the implications. As it is she's still back on the moon having power over anything but the ocean and fun but pretend magic rituals.]

Flirting is the trigger to either kill me, knock me out or be somewhere else. I ... don't flirt as a rule, unless you're a certain purple-blooded freak of nature with an obsession with guns.

[She shook her head, reaching up and scratching at the back of it and looking a little uncomfortable.]

That part of me flirts with everything... well, worse, but it has to start somewhere, and usually it can't just start with the medieval torture equipment.

[Rose wishes she wasn't the type to find Samantha's warnings more exciting than off putting. It's like having a fascination with shark dentition.]

So, you have had [she searches for the right word] problematic encounters in the past?

[samantha_grey]

[And Sollux wondered why she ended up hanging out with you people more often than she should.]

...I've killed people before, yes. And worse. [She shrugged and glanced away, the scent of sulfur in the air.] It's hard to really do the police thing, so we try to just keep me locked up about that time.

[Rose nods, she's starting to get a picture of how dangerous Samantha thinks she is to those around her.]

I hope it wasn't anyone you liked. [Crass, Lalonde.] But you have people to help you? Having friends willing to step in... well, I know the good that can do.

That's who my other side usually targets... [ahem] But it's helped that they've been willing, yes. Enough that I don't warn most people anymore, but you're sort of a special case.

You see, you're kind of nosy at dangerous times.
