monthly test drive!!

THE TEST DRIVE MEME
• Got a character you're thinking of reserving/apping this round? PUT THEM HERE! • Threads here can count as your third person sample! • Comment with your character's name and canon! • Make up your own scenario or have them walk into all the doors or leave it blank for others to do it for you! • OPTIONAL SCENARIO: After your character receives his or her bracelet and the run-down from the faceless maids in the castle, the first thing they realize upon stepping outside is that the city has been all but shut down for some sort of large festival. There are stalls set up along all of the main streets, selling everything from savory foods to desserts to clothes to trinkets, and the vendors cheerfully call at people as they pass, trying to entice them over. The stalls are all decked in incredibly colorful banners and flags, as if attempting to beat back the grayness still lurking in a lot of the city by sheer physical force. Small musical ensembles play on street corners, and one can't go far at all without nearly running into someone juggling or swallowing swords. Good luck finding your god's welcome house in this chaos - the streets are pretty packed with people just milling around! And have fun! ♥ |

[ Jade repeats this slowly, curiously, even as she leans forward and buys two enormous fluffs of electric blue cotton candy for the both of them. She has an easy sort of chatter with the vendor - not anyone she's met before, but certainly she's been here long enough to be wholly comfortable with talking to the natives. She passes some of the cotton candy over to Rose, beginning to walk again. ]
Could you vague that up a little for me, Rose? I am not sure what you are talking about, exactly!

I don't believe I've made enough mistakes that there could be that many very big ones to create confusion.
[She sighs and takes a proper bite of her cotton candy.]
This one was detonating The Tumor [she still uses clanging capitals to refer to the wretched thing] with Dave, causing our deaths and revivals to god tier. Or so I thought. This is not the universe I expected to arrive at after my death, if I'm honest.

[ Alright - she's visibly surprised by Rose's answer, even as she continues to lead them through the crowd. ]
.. that was a really long time ago!
no subject
Long being what length of time exactly? It's mere hours from my point of view.
no subject
[ She chews on her lip, suddenly thoughtful. ]
About.. three years? That sounds about right.
no subject
She's lost three years. To what? To the whims of a game? Or something else. The rules change as you advance but where could she have stepped wrong for that to happen? She pulls herself tall against the oppressive, useless feeling. Mentally, she shakes it off.]
You mentioned me making an appearance before, was she from the same point? [Timelines are another possibility. But she never saw this. And her powers - that she can't feel any more - kept this path from her.]

[ The reaction in Rose is so physical that Jade can barely stifle the need to surge forward, to try to fix it. ]
When you're sent home, it'll be at the same point you left. The gods sort of pull us - god, how did they explain it? From a fixed point in time? We snap back to that, it's okay, honest. The worst thing you have to worry about is some spoilers, but I promise it'll be fine.

Is everyone here? You've made it clear that we didn't come as a group but if I have come and gone at the whim of the gods have you and the others as well?
[It's still unsettling that Jade is in a position where she's imparting information gained through unknown means again but putting a big fat label reading "GODS" soothes her pride.]
