monthly test drive!!

THE TEST DRIVE MEME

• Got a character you're thinking of reserving/apping this round? PUT THEM HERE!
• Threads here can count as your third person sample!
• Comment with your character's name and canon!
• Make up your own scenario or have them walk into all the doors or leave it blank for others to do it for you!

OPTIONAL SCENARIO: After your character receives his or her bracelet and the run-down from the faceless maids in the castle, the first thing they realize upon stepping outside is that the city has been all but shut down for some sort of large festival. There are stalls set up along all of the main streets, selling everything from savory foods to desserts to clothes to trinkets, and the vendors cheerfully call at people as they pass, trying to entice them over. The stalls are all decked in incredibly colorful banners and flags, as if attempting to beat back the grayness still lurking in a lot of the city by sheer physical force. Small musical ensembles play on street corners, and one can't go far at all without nearly running into someone juggling or swallowing swords. Good luck finding your god's welcome house in this chaos - the streets are pretty packed with people just milling around!

And have fun! ♥

Merlin recognises that look. Or at least he thinks he does.

"Bit hectic, isn't it?" He's feeling overwhelmed himself, and he's used to this sort of thing. But it seems spirits are high, and it makes the crowds even rowdier than normal.

"Hope you weren't trying to find someone the normal way, you'll never see them in this mess."

Ah, so it works. Or at least he thinks it does. Harry isn't very good at reading people all the time, but he doesn't overthink it. This guy seems friendly enough, so he sees no reason not to respond in kind.

"I was trying to find my way, actually," Harry replies. "Well, I reckon I'm supposed to find my way. They aren't very good at instructions, these gods."
dragonspeak: (No...it's fascinating~)

Merlin throws him an amused look, chuckling. "They really aren't," he agrees. "Sometimes I think they just want to keep up that whole mysterious feel by giving us half-answers."

Now that he's done laughing over Harry's description of the gods, Merlin pulls back a bit and studies him speculatively. Something tells him Harry's a newcomer, and a lot more overwhelmed than Merlin guessed before.

"What are you looking for? Maybe I could help."

"A way back home," he says, not expecting much of a response that would point toward that. Of course, this stranger was speaking with a similar accent. Harry can't place where it comes from, but it's English, all right. "We've just finished up a war there, you know. Well, actually, you likely wouldn't know." He eyes him seriously.

"Er, failing that, a way through and some directions." He doesn't want to seem so very lost, but he realizes now how much of a loss he is without his magic. These situations would be much easier if he could pop from one place to another. But that's not happening.

Yeah, definitely a newcomer, then. Merlin shakes his head and tugs Harry away from the crowd, to someplace a bit quieter.

"Sorry about that," he says once he lets go. "It'll be easier to talk away from all that noise. Anyway, you just got here, right? There's really no way to get back to your world from here, so you're in for a bit of a stay, I'm afraid."

The gods sure did pick an excellent time to bring in more people. Merlin wonders how many others are wandering about the city, completely lost in the festival.
