monthly test drive!!

THE TEST DRIVE MEME
• Got a character you're thinking of reserving/apping this round? PUT THEM HERE! • Threads here can count as your third person sample! • Comment with your character's name and canon! • Make up your own scenario or have them walk into all the doors or leave it blank for others to do it for you! • OPTIONAL SCENARIO: After your character receives his or her bracelet and the run-down from the faceless maids in the castle, the first thing they realize upon stepping outside is that the city has been all but shut down for some sort of large festival. There are stalls set up along all of the main streets, selling everything from savory foods to desserts to clothes to trinkets, and the vendors cheerfully call at people as they pass, trying to entice them over. The stalls are all decked in incredibly colorful banners and flags, as if attempting to beat back the grayness still lurking in a lot of the city by sheer physical force. Small musical ensembles play on street corners, and one can't go far at all without nearly running into someone juggling or swallowing swords. Good luck finding your god's welcome house in this chaos - the streets are pretty packed with people just milling around! And have fun! ♥ |

"It's fine, Malfoy. I've come to do what I can. So you can go back to whinging or whatever rubbish it is you do in your spare time."
He doesn't, even if he wants to, give in to the urge to ask Draco why it is that he's able to fly. Back home, flying isn't that unusual with the right spell, but he knows already that he can't do that. So, if Draco is able to for some reason, that puts him at an unwanted disadvantage. The last thing Harry wants is to draw attention to that.

Draco, of course, had a whole other story about Potter that he hadn't bothered really delving into. But that was neither here nor there.
"If by rubbish you mean fighting in the war here and actually being more productive than you've ever dreamed of being? Sure, I'll get right to that." He didn't expect the brunette to really believe him, but he was also finding that to be a bit infuriating. He wasn't entirely sure why it was so important to prove to Potter of all people that he was better...
...oh, right. Because that's what he's always done. "You can't do much if you're completely lost. You realize that, don't you?"

But when is it ever?
"And in case you've forgotten, I've a fair amount of experience in wars." Harry lets that lie, just for a moment. He looks smug before he continues. "But that's right. From your side, things looked a bit different, didn't they? Still, it's a good thing I settled all of that." Not everything, but Harry doesn't bother to add any corrections to his words. Malfoy doesn't need him to, and if he's going to start pointing out how much needs to be fixed and how many people died, then his flight is truly going to remain his only advantage.
As for fighting and helping in the war, Harry doesn't believe it at all. He does know that Malfoy isn't as morally wrong as many of the other Death Eaters, but he isn't bothering to point that out just yet. Maybe he just stubbornly wants to believe he still has this to hold over Malfoy's head. Who knows?

"And in case you've forgotten, so've I." There's a very indignant sound though at the second comment. "Settled all of it?" That's as much of a confirmation as he needs and that bothers him even more so. "Not soon enough, I wager."

"But if you've really been here that long, then we both have that problem." He doesn't want to bring Malfoy down to his level, but if he can't bring him any lower, that'll have to do. "It's hard, isn't it?" He keeps his tone tight and flat, trying not to betray himself. If he guides the conversation this here, perhaps Malfoy will find it difficult to keep going. He hopes so, anyway.

Of course, this wasn't people. This was Harry Potter.
"What makes you think I don't prefer being here?" he says before he can even contemplate another articulate way to say the words. It wasn't untrue, actually. Draco didn't mind Asgard for as much grief as it gave him. It didn't hurt that he now knew how the war ended and he could focus more on his life here. Sort of a permanent vacation with asshole gods and strange happenings every month or so.

He knows otherwise that it hasn't exactly been easy for the Malfoys. But that doesn't mean that Malfoy would just ... want something else. Harry has a hard time hiding his confusion, even if he hates that. He doesn't want to be caught that way, after all.

Which is all true. Draco knew that for the time being he had the advantage over Potter in regards to being in the city. He just wasn't sure how long that would last. Asgard was a strange place that had changed him in ways he wasn't even sure he'd ever want to admit. But the blatant confusion in Potter's expression is just shy of perfect.

Malfoy isn't as bad as he always made him out to be, that much is certain, but Harry can't easily forget the word Mudblood readily pouring through his mouth tonnes of times. Malfoy is no saint. Yes, he grew up that way and there is a certain extent of understanding he'll give him. But not too much of one, and not right now, when Malfoy is holding his knowledge over Harry's head.
