monthly test drive!!

THE TEST DRIVE MEME
• Got a character you're thinking of reserving/apping this round? PUT THEM HERE! • Threads here can count as your third person sample! • Comment with your character's name and canon! • Make up your own scenario or have them walk into all the doors or leave it blank for others to do it for you! • OPTIONAL SCENARIO: After your character receives his or her bracelet and the run-down from the faceless maids in the castle, the first thing they realize upon stepping outside is that the city has been all but shut down for some sort of large festival. There are stalls set up along all of the main streets, selling everything from savory foods to desserts to clothes to trinkets, and the vendors cheerfully call at people as they pass, trying to entice them over. The stalls are all decked in incredibly colorful banners and flags, as if attempting to beat back the grayness still lurking in a lot of the city by sheer physical force. Small musical ensembles play on street corners, and one can't go far at all without nearly running into someone juggling or swallowing swords. Good luck finding your god's welcome house in this chaos - the streets are pretty packed with people just milling around! And have fun! ♥ |

Elena does have the advantage of being able to use both her hands without having to severely dislocate her wrist.

Offering her wrist up, she glances around the crowd, "I still can't believe how many people end up coming out for these things. It always feels like there's less of us until something happens that makes us want to get out."

Elena gets the sense she might be a little shy, so bombarding her with questions probably wasn't the best way to go.
Cheap plastic was certainly a way of describing it. Elena's not really sure if the two ends actually fit, but she can at least wiggling them together better than the other girl can with just one hand. Still, she's giving the bracelet a disapproving frown until it finally gives. Smiling, Elena takes a small half-step back.
"Hopefully that'll hold."

Taking a moment, Erica replies to her first question, "I know a few people. They're from the same city as I'm from, but I guess you can say that it's complicated. I'm from earlier in their lives. Which sounds crazy, but it's something about how these things work out."

She nods a little.
"I haven't had any luck finding anybody I know yet." She smiles. "Guess I can turn that around right now though. I'm Elena."

She assumes it's what it sounds like, but it's always safer to not assume.

After all, what's the point in having powers if you aren't using new friends as guinea pigs? And, well, it's justifiable because it'd be good to know in case someone else tries it on her without telling her first. Not that Elena's really sure she could necessarily resist it, but it still pays to be in the know.

She gestures for Elena to relax her hand, "Just loosen your wrist and don't think about it."
It's a slow pull as Erica focuses and tries to sort out where Elena is in relation to her and where that hand is. She finds it and lifts it slowly. Her breathing stays steady and she smiles as she makes the wrist turn slightly. Fingers curl into a fist and then she finds the thumb to make it rise out of the fist.

"You weren't kidding. You're a pro," she says when she takes control of her hand and arm again, lowering it back down to her side. "How long did that take you to master?"

"That sounds pretty cool," she says. "I'm sure you'll catch up with him in no time."
