I saved Calliope for last because I wanted to look into a few things. Now that I have I want to say that Dirk sees Calliope as a close friend. She's one of the people that he can talk to and do so openly. He looks to her for advice and for information. He can't always get his head around her, but that doesn't actually matter to him as much as it does with psychos.

Because he knows she's on his side and he's on hers. There's so much he doesn't understand and she stands in the know in some ways, and in others she's as in the dark as he is. It's a relationship of equals. As equal as they can be given their circumstances. She seems more of his thoughts than a lot of people do. Like how he talked to her about his aspect and what troubles he was having with Derse.

Wanted to get this much out before I lost my train of thought.
