Calliope sees Equius as someone who is impressive, passionate and surprisingly creative (the fact that is Nepeta's moirriall is just an added bonus!) Their conversations are something reminiscent to the type she has with Dirk; relaxed, yet tactical. Equius being the first person, apart from Roxy, who has seen her has added a strange sort of trust to their bond; she also appreciates his unique perspective on art.

Even if she is not a troll, Calliope has no reservations about viewing herself as his lesser. In her mind, she sees it almost as a form of extreme role-playing. She had read about their culture for so long, now that she gets to be a part of it, any part will do! Similar to her situation with Eridan, she finds herself thrilled that someone like he will even speak to her, let alone care for her well being. It is for that reason, perhaps that she has remained oblivious (despite their often sweaty/blushing surprise run-ins with each other) to his possible affections of her.

Because Calliope sees herself as less than a real person, she never considered that someone might have feelings for her, let alone felt she had any right to explore or act on her own. The more time she spends alone in a body, however, the more her emotions expand. Just as Caliborn slowly began to learn how to interact with others and improve his drawing in canon, Calliope too is feeling more while adapting to Asgard.

Currently she views Equius as a trustworthy, respectable companion, and while she would not blame him for handing her over to the Condesce if he was ordered to, someone safe to stand by. Even if she may not see him in any special way now, she will admit she certainly enjoyed their kiss.
