I didn't find your hearts meme response until like a week ago, due to lost notifs, so I'll make up for it here? |D

Hehehehe, no worries.

Equius is conflicted. He has some mild interest in both Kaworu and Calliope, but both make him intensely uncomfortable for very different reasons. Calliope is so fascinated by troll culture that it is almost painfully awkward for him to observe, and he's never quite sure how to react to her. However, at the same time, she's proper, friendly and polite and generally not inappropriate at any time. She isn't non-violent, but she also isn't strongly pacifistic.

After the whole incident with her brother, he also wouldn't admit it, but there's a part of him that wants to protect her more than a little. He didn't like seeing her dead, and he really didn't like others' reactions to his concerns. As it stands, he's really not sure how to approach her, if he's supposed to feel something, if he just wants to protect her as a friend...

And all in all, this whole thing just makes him confused and irritated, which confuses him more and creates this sort of ongoing cycle of idiocity, towels and perspiration fueled by his complete lack of handling relationships properly.

He also suspects there's more to what she's said than she lets on...

hehe what amuses me most I think is that while he is the only one who ever considered dating her he is ALSO the person who finds her the most suspicious. (which I think is great, I am frankly surprised more of them are not haha)

Oh god, Equius is a ball of confusion with Kaworu. On the one hand, it's patently obvious in his addled mind that neither he nor Kaworu treat romance in the same fashion as humans do, though the other seems largely asexual in attitude. The problem is that Kaworu treats him in so many ways that qualify as basically romantic in nature by troll standards, and he refuses to stop even though he's been warned about this fact. It's disconcerting, confusing and frustrating.

There's a part of him that wants to protect him from every danger out there, including himself, to slam him to the nearest wall and *content censored* him twelve ways until sunday. That part of him embarasses the hell out of Equius because he's a damned highblood, and he's better than that. The angel's blood is a downright sinful, decadent red. It's scandalous on top of scandal.

He wants to make sure this dalliance stays hidden from the Condesce, no matter what. The odds of it ending very badly increase a hundred fold if she learns. He'd rather just have the experimental dates for now and see what comes of it.

Equius, naturally, views her to be the empress. Regardless of how much he might question the hemospectrum lately because of some obvious inequities that have resulted in personal harm to those he cares for, inequities that seem to have little purpose, the fact is that it is part of their society and she's at the top. He can question it, behave as if it doesn't completely apply, and at the end of the day she's still the boss and the one in charge of all trolls, so that carries weight.

She is also well known as one of the most violent, wrathful and despicable creatures in the galaxy, a woman who can kill you in a heartbeat as soon as look at you. He can't and won't trifle with her, nor will he willingly piss her off. She needs to be mollified, almost coddled in a way. This isn't her empire, and the potential permutations are all ugly.

So he's playing this very very VERY carefully. ...she's also really hot, which is a bit intimidating.

Her presence is probably the single most valuable thing to happen in his character development since his arrival here. While he has several characters that have impacted him, the presence of a Nepeta who could drag him out of his preconceptions and help him recognize the very visible results of the hemospectrum on those he cared for.

She's helped him finally attempt to deal with a few things (like Aradia), and while he's far from fully socialized, he's definitely a shade less awkward than he was long long ago.

All in all, he's still just as protective of her, and he loves his moirail quite a bit. It helps him have something stable in his life to anchor himself to, and it gives him a further reason to work hard to defend her from the potential of danger.

Aww, wow, I knew they did a lot for each other but I didn't realize she'd helped him out quite that much! Nor, I think, does she. She does take it for granted that the two of them being together makes everything okay somehow, and he really is the reason she regained her balance and her cheery demeanour so soon after being killed - she pulled herself together for his sake, really, and in turn it helped her recover faster.

I think that all in all his presence in Asgard is the whole reason she's so happy and settled. She'd quite happily continue this way forever, with him and both their lusii. She's very easily made happy, and it helps having the main source of her happiness around most of the time :)

A lot of it was timing. I was actually surprised how well timed her arrival was. The second Gamzee I've encountered had just disappeared, and he was nearly at the point where he was thinking of approaching Aradia again. Nepeta helped ground him a lot. ^_^, and yes. She is quite easy to make happy, and while she's happy and at ease, she has all these strange new people to meet and play with as he frowns in brotherly disapproval at their unworthiness.
