CALLIOPE, WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE BROS WITH DIRK. Davesprite would honestly not avoid her if it weren't for the fact she's obviously super fucking important to Dirk. I...hilariously have no idea why this is, since he doesn't mind Draco, but I think it's a combination of the fact she's from their universe (therefore significantly more likely to run into Dave) and she's just. So nice. Nice people instantly deserve better or something, though at least he won't avoid her as adamantly as other castmates.

Her reaction to him being part sprite genuinely threw him at first, because he is a little weirdly self-conscious about that. And it's the only time he's ever talked to someone who actually took note of the fact that, oh, hey, you're a sprite. THAT'S SO COOL? He's used to the crow thing at this point, but that was unprecedented.

And then she tried to make a joke and instantly endeared herself to him as I stared in utter confusion. Like, that's literally the type of person he gravitates towards: genuinely nice and willing to make jokes with him. And he honestly really sympathizes with what she said? About being selfish, because she didn't want to die. While backtagging had the timeline kind of jumbled, that made her death retroactively hit harder than it would've otherwise.

Back to the crow thing, though, the fact Calliope is kind of getting over showing her face and whatnot makes Davesprite feel kind of silly. He doesn't like using video because he doesn't want to field questions about why he's part crow, especially if anyone realizes, hey, didn't I see some guy who looks exactly like a featherless version of you. But the fact she's using it when she's blatantly not human makes him kind of pause and wonder what the hell his problem is. A part of him just wants to rub it in people's faces and go deal with it, but it's not...that strong.
