Why, why, why. Dirk asks himself that a lot around Kaworu. It's like the man can see into his soul and he doesn't like it. Unlike ???, he has the feeling that Kaworu is literally actively looking in there. He asks the questions that kick open doors and Dirk doesn't know how to deal with it. He's a kid, one that has never interacted with society during his formative years.

During the curse, he just couldn't escape it either. The questions that were asked rattle around inside Dirk's head and set off bombs he didn't know existed. It's added to his awareness of himself. He's not sure how to feel about it, or how to feel about Kaworu. He feels like the guy has so much more to him and if this much reads his soul, he's not sure what would happen when Kaworu really knows him.
