With repetition you get better, and interacting with someone you get to see them individually. Eventually. At least that’s how it works for Kaworu and that’s how he came to see euri individually. It’s extremely difficult for him to see someone like that, but when it happens, he grows so fond of that person.

Kaworu’s love doesn’t have a proper definition, it doesn’t have limits. As matter of fact, Kaworu’s love is unconditional and very (literally) alien because he IS an alien. It’s not romantic, friendship, family, sympathy, pity, enjoyment, care, fun… it’s none of those because those would NEVER be enough to describe the sort of love Kaworu has for someone he sees individually. Kaworu’s love has no limits to define it. He isn’t “in love”, he just loves. The best way to describe this love is to call it “Love”. It’s its own definition.

Euri has it. It’s the point Kaworu lives to make a person happy. He believes he was born to meet those people he has come to love and he believes his existence is for them. And so he will blindly give himself for them, including his own life. Though Euri and Kaworu don’t see each other or talk to each other every day and she may not consider him a close friend, it doesn’t really mean much for Kaworu; it’s alright, actually. Because it means Euri has others who make her very happy and he is very glad for that. He doesn’t need to be important to anyone and as long she is happy, it’s all it matters. And if she ever needs him, he is there.

He cares for her a lot and though she was upset to hear about his death, he couldn’t help but to find her so gentle. It’s one of the reasons why he loves her. And he truly hopes she is happy and is glad for that happiness she feels.
