That's the exact same thing. Not knowing where you're going means that you're lost.

Not at all! Not knowing where you're going simply means you haven't decided where you're going. If I was lost it would mean I have a destination in mind, but I don't know how to get there! So, I don't know where I am going!

You were still walking without looking around. What you did is equivalent to texting while driving. You may be writing, but that doesn't give you an excuse to take your eyes off your surroundings.
