Stephen watches the children laugh and scatter, wondering once more at how he came to be in such a place. There's a quiet yet persistent urge underneath his skin to return to his dimension, but of all the places to end up stranded, it could be a lot worse.

"You don't need to call me Master," Stephen interjects, kindly. "My old magic is gone, as you said. Just Stephen is fine."

The oozing blood doesn't give Stephen pause.

"I could try, but I don't expect that sort of small miracle. My body has been ravaged by magic, I don't know that the damage can be undone simply from the loss of it."
